It’s been almost exactly a month and it feels like we’re getting into the details now. We’ve got interior doors in, trim happening, some interior carpentry, and gutters!
The gutters are important because we were getting some water intrusion issues, and when its 98F and 100% humidity, that meant a little bit of mold growth. Fortunately it was caught, its being aggressively treated, and we’re in much better shape with some grading, the gutters, and HVAC going fully in Monday.

The front of the house is a pretty complicated roofline, so it feels a little over-guttered, but I also want to make sure we’re not having any open edges that just pour over onto the landscaping and dig an eventual trench.

The back has a bit of an overhang, but a bit simpler.

And the sides are really just one long run. Simple, effective. Oversized – they should handle lots of water, which is what we need with such a large roof and the torrential rain we get lately.

Back inside, we’ve got bathroom tile going in and I will be honest – I was pretty worried that we wouldnt love the choices we made so long ago. Luckily, I DO! Love it all. this is the girls shower, and it looks amazing; a nice take on subway tile.

And in Catherine’s office bathroom and the basement bathroom, we’ve got this beautiful gray/pink/purple square tile that looks even better installed than it did when we picked it. Can’t wait to see it all come together!

The great room built-ins are going in as well as a number of other finished carpentry spots (linen closets, pantry, etc.)

Probably the most exciting is the custom book shelf in the secret nook/library. This will definitely hold …uh some of our collection!

And while this is actually the oldest photo chronologically, its a nice shot of all the trim work thats being done, and the glass door for my office. SO EXCITING!
