I’m not sure what happened this summer. Time seemed to fly by, yet also stand-still. It’s been HOT, and muggy. But we’ve also seen a lot of progress be made on the house, and I’ve been remiss in updating. So here we go!
Where to begin… I’ll share some photos in no particular order.
We can start on the outside – I mentioned it was hot and muggy right? Well in order to make progress on the interior, we needed to get some cold air flowing. So we had our HVAC brought online fully, including some absolute units outside.
These puppies have been keeping things cool for the last two months, and are pretty darn quiet to boot.
Back on the inside, we’ve finally seen the vision of our primary bathroom come to life!
If you couldn’t tell from the grin on Catherine’s face, we LOVE how this turned out. The wood-looking tile, with the niche of marble + brass stars, just incredible. It looks even better in person!
Less sexy, but no less important – 2+ feet of spray insulation! So that aforementioned HVAC has to work a little less hard…
Our utility room/mud room is designed to feel like a separate wing of the house, with a fairly distinctive floor and different color hardware that sets it apart. The floor came out a bit darker than we hoped, but after some lighter paint and literal lights in this room, I think we’ll love it.
Speaking of things we love, the custom carpentry! We’ve had a custom mudroom bench/storage rack built, along with some custom trim on our accent wall, that also works to hide the secret library. Can you spot the door??
In the kitchen, all of the cabinets are in! They came out PERFECT. We love the white oak with blue island, and can’t wait to see the countertops when they are fully installed!
And to bring things home… I sit here, on the above porch, enjoying a quiet, dark night. This will definitely be the place I spend a LOT of time. We’ll have fans, heaters, lights, high speed internet, all the bells and whistles. By far, my favorite spot so far!
