You don’t really understand the sheer amount of decisions you’ll need to make for a house until you’re eyeballs deep in it. Floors, cabinets, hardware, windows, paint, faucets, toilets, doors, tile, more tile, another tile, the list is long. Unending, even.
Today we went looking at floors, and fortunately, I think we’ve found the one we like.
But first, taking the advice of the flooring associate, we brought the sample to the house to get a feel for how it would look in the lighting. But since the current iteration of the house is a shell with no walls of any sort, the best we could do was to throw them on the plywood subfloor. Still, it’s better than the showroom lights.
The top sample is the floor color and the bottom sample is an approximation of our kitchen cabinet color.
It’s white oak that is more brown than yellow, looks a bit rustic (although this sample is more rustic than not), light enough to off-set the wood cabinets, but not too white where it looks washed out. Wide planks, with a thick wood layer despite engineered floors.
Next, plumbing and faucets!
